Marcin Koziak
Marcin Koziak was born in 1989 in Kraków in a family with musical traditions. When he was 10 years old, he won his first national piano competition and a year later he made his debut with the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra. Despite his young age, he has already given concerts in 22 countries in Europe, Asia and North America; he has performed in Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Russia, Israel, the USA, Japan, China, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Estonia, Romania, Croatia, Georgia, the Canary Islands, Ukraine and Hungary in renowned concert halls, such as Tokyo International Forum, Forbidden City Concert Hall (Beijing), National Centre for the Performing Arts (Beijing), Art Center of Kobe (Kobe, Japan), Bass Performance Hall (Fort Worth, USA), Peabody Auditorium (Daytona Beach, USA), Ferguson Center for the Arts (Newport News, USA), Detroit Music Hall, Mechanics Hall (Worcester, USA), The Palladium (Carmel, USA), C.Y., Stephens Auditorium (Ames, USA), Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall (Costa Mesa, USA), Lehman Center for the Performing Arts (New York), Cadogan Hall (London), Salle Cortot (Paris), Warsaw Philharmonic and the National Opera in Warsaw, the new concert hall of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Auditorium di Milano, Grand Hall of the Conservatory of Music in Geneva, Verdi Hall in Milan, Auditorio Alfredo Kraus (Las Palmas) and Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb. He had the pleasure to work with Alexander Lazarev, Antoni Wit, George Tchitchinadze, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Xieyang Chen, Maximiano Valdés, Yip Wing-sie, Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Marek Pijarowski, Massimiliano Caldi, Stanisław Krawczyński, Michał Dworzyński, Bogusław Dawidow, José Maria Florêncio, Ernst van Tiel and Maciej Tworek when he performed with many famous orchestras: China National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquestra Filarmonica de Gran Canaria, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra and the orchestras of the Cracow Philharmonic, Baltic Philharmonic, Poznań Philharmonic, Łódź Philharmonic and Pomeranian Philharmonic… Apart from solo recitals and symphonic concerts, Marcin Koziak has also had the pleasure to perform at chamber recitals with Aleksandra Kuls, Bartosz Koziak, Magdalena Bojanowicz and Agata Szymczewska.
He has performed at many major festivals and concert series: La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival, Chopin and His Europe, Rubinstein Piano Festival, Music in Old Cracow, Emanations, La Folle Journée au Japon, La Folle Journée au Varsovie, ASEM Culture and Arts Festival, International Chopin Piano Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój, Kiev Summer Music Evenings, and many more. He has been invited to Geneva, Paris, Aix-en-Provence, Milan, Warsaw, Kraków, Łódź and Katowice… In 2016 he went on a US tour and gave 33 concerts with the Symphony Orchestra of the Baltic Philharmonic. He played concertos by Beethoven, Chopin and Tchaikowsky in New York, Detroit, Las Vegas, Costa Mesa (California), Fairfax (Virginia), Daytona Beach (Florida), and many more.
On 1 March 2010, he performed at the opening gala of the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw on day of the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth, and on 1 July 2011 he performed at the gala concert in the Baths of Caracalla in Rome to celebrate the inauguration of the Polish Presidency of the European Union. On 4 May 2011, he had the honour to perform for Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden and First Lady of the Republic of Poland Anna Komorowska during the queen’s official visit to Poland. His concerts have been transmitted by the Japanese radio Ottava, France Musique, Polish Radio and Polish Television. He has recorded two albums with Frederic Chopin’s music.
