On St Andrew’s Day, instead of the traditional fortune-telling, we invite you on a vibrant journey through the iconic sounds of the 1970s and 1980s. This concert promises an enchanting experience with timeless hits reimagined in captivating symphonic arrangements. Our crystal ball predicts that an unforgettable experience awaits you all!
In August, Kamil Franczak, Weronika Skalska, and Małgorzata Janek wowed Toruń audiences with beloved James Bond theme songs. This time, joined by Kamil Baron, they will perform songs that, despite the years, continue to resonate with listeners worldwide.
The St Andrew’s Day concert will feature classics from films such as “Dirty Dancing” with “Time of My Life” and “The Bodyguard” with “I Will Always Love You”.
Fans of the Bond series are in for a treat, with favourites like Diamonds Are Forever, originally sung by Shirley Bassey, who has performed more Bond songs than any other artist! We’ll also revisit Live and Let Die, a thrilling encore at our “Golden Hits of James Bond” concert held at Jordanki in August, distinguished by its high-energy, danceable feel that sets it apart from other Bond themes.
No concert of the 1980s greatest hits would be complete without the King of Pop. Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, released in 1982, remains the best-selling album of all time. At Jordanki, the audience will be thrilled to hear “Billie Jean”, one of Jackson’s signature tracks, along with Smooth Criminal from the following album.
Also featured are classics from Queen, with Kamil Franczak’s dynamic performances that have earned him the title of “our generation’s Freddie”. Franczak, who has performed Queen’s greatest hits with orchestras across Poland (including with the Toruń Symphony Orchestra last year) and stars in “We Will Rock You” at the ROMA Musical Theatre, will bring these rock anthems to life once again on the Jordanki stage.
Expect to relive the joy of house party and wedding classics like Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”, ABBA’s “Mamma Mia”, and Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September”.
The evening will also offer powerful performances of John Lennon’s “Imagine” and Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango”, famously featured in the film “Frantic”, ensuring a profound musical experience.
“This concert will strike a chord with your soul”, promise the artists.
All of these classic hits will be presented in fresh symphonic arrangements, lending them an even more distinctive character.
There’s no doubt—the music of the 1970s and 1980s is truly timeless. No need for tea leaves, tarot cards, or fortune cookies; we’re certain these tunes will spark memories and bring you immense joy.
