The captivating musical encounter with Korean artists will be dedicated to the timeless works of A. Dvořák, renowned for his remarkable compositions steeped in Czech folk traditions. Through carefully selected Slavonic Dances and Hungarian Dances, the audience will embark on a journey to discover the eminently Czech sounds that permeate Dvořák’s music. It was the Slavonic Dances that propelled the once-unknown composer into the realm of true artistry, bringing immense pride and fame to his homeland. Drawing upon cherished Czech and Slovak dance motifs, Dvořák’s works resound with a unique national colour, skillfully woven through delightful repetitions that please the ear. Buoyed by the resounding public acclaim, the composer decided to expand his originally piano-centric Dances to be performed by a full orchestra, further elevating their impact and grandeur. J. Brahms’ Hungarian Dances served as a significant source of inspiration for Dvořák, prompting him to arrange a notable selection of these melodies for orchestra. In his Hungarian Dances, Brahms masterfully synthesized popular Hungarian folk motifs with his individual artistry, which resulted in remarkable compositions of enduring beauty. Among these dances, Hungarian Dance No. 5 stands out, capturing a joyful atmosphere and delicate exoticism, and earning the highest accolades from both audiences and critics alike.
